The mission of the Sartell Senior Connection is to enhance the quality of life for senior citizens by planning and providing programs based on social, creative, educational and physical needs.

This is Dr Evan Eigen at Coffee & Conversation explaining the importance of the spinal system & how to keep it healthy. 

At C & C Deb, Bob, & Nancy that gave members all and interesting information about the State Bird, the Loon.

                                    Upcoming Events


The upcoming week of September 21 -  27 is the Active Aging Week and the Sartell Senior Connection  is providing new activities during this week.  The hope is to see many new faces; and these new events are:

·          Tuesday, September 23 Jim Braig, a former nationally competing canoe athlete,  will share his techniques for beginning paddlers and take a little ride down the river.  It's free but please pre-register with Community Education at their office, call 253-4036 or go to their website at http://www.sartell.k12.mn.us/community-education.

·          Wednesday, September 24, again Jim Braig will have a Tai Chi demonstration and learning experience.  Members attending will learn how to improve their balance, lower their heart rate, and calm down.  Two sessions will be held one from 10:00 - 11:00AM & another 6:30 - 730 PM.  It's free but please pre-register with Community Education at their office, call 253-4036 or go to their website at http://www.sartell.k12.mn.us/community-education.

·          Also Wednesday, September 24, the Mahjong players will demonstrate playing the for those that are interested and new to the game.  It's free but please pre-register with Community Education at their office, call 253-4036 or go to their website at http://www.sartell.k12.mn.us/community-education.

·          Thursday, September 25, Jim Braig will present a powerpoint of his experience of relaying the Olympic Games torch in 1984.   It's free but please pre-register with Community Education at their office, call 253-4036 or go to their website at http://www.sartell.k12.mn.us/community-education.

·          Thursday, September 25, bowling at the Great River Bowl will offer at a fee of $5, bowling from 2:00 - 3:00 PM.

·          Thursday September 25, TRIVIA,  will be in the SSC room 303 at 6:00 PM.  Teams are chosen at random, this is a great chance to meet people, surprise yourself with what is hidden back in your mind and have a lot of fun.  The cost is $5 per person and refreshments are served.

·          Friday, September 26 there will be Hiking and a lunch picnic at the Stearns County Mississippi River Park from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM.  Please RSVP to Community Education to ensure there is enough hot dogs, potato chips, etc by calling (320) 253-4036,

9/23 Tuesday

At Country Manor Apartments Lunch & Farkle will be held. Please make a reservation by calling 258-8974 and prior to dining the fee is $5.00.

Open Swimming will be ever Tuesday mornings 10 - 11 AM for persons 55+ AmericInn in Sartell.   Hot tub is available.  Passes can be purchased at Sartell-St. Stephen Community Ed office - $7.00. 

From 1:00 - 3:00 PM Jim Braig will share his techniques for beginning Canoeing paddlers and take a little ride down the river.  You must pre-register at Community Ed prior to attending. 

At Sartell Senior Connection the 500 Club will begin at 1:00 PM in room 303.  If you're a 500 card player or want to learn to play 500 stop on by.

A Sing-A-Long at 6:00 PM hosted by Jim & Shirley Wasdyke at the Legends at Heritage Place

9/24 Wednesday

The VISUAL ARTS GROUP will meet every Wednesday in the District Service Center at 9:00 AM.

Modern American Mahjong is played from 9:00 AM until Noon and they are looking for more players who know the game.

Bikers will meet at 10:00 AM at the SSC parking lot or at 10:35 AM at the trail head in Albany.  They'll bike to Two Rivers, approximately 12 miles but should bring a bag lunch.

The gymnasium will now be open Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays for seniors for exercise and/or Badminton from 2:45 PM - 4:00 PM.

Tai Chi will be explained and demonstrated by Jim Braig  at SSC at 10:00 - 11:00 AM and also at 6:30 -  7:30 PM.  Also you must pre-register with Community Ed prior to attending.

9/25 Thursday

At 9:00 AM for Coffee & Conversation at County Manor Apartment Garden Cove dinning room Jim Braig will speak of his torch run.   In 1984 when the summer Olympic games were held in Los Angeles, Jim was one of two Iowans selected to carry the Olympic Torch.  Jim will show a power point of his amazing experience. 

POKER will be played this Thursday at 1:00 - 3:30 PM.    The group plays informal and fun games with several crazy, wild card games.  It's more of a social gathering and all are welcome.

Bowling at the Great River Bowl will be held from 2:00 - 3:00 PM for only $5.00 as part of the active Aging Week.

At Sartell Senior Connection room 303 Trivia Night will be conducted at 6:00 PM. Teams are chosen at random, this is a great chance to meet people, surprise yourself with what is hidden back in your mind and have a lot of fun.  The cost is $5 per person and refreshments are served. 

9/26 Friday  

The COMMUNITY SHARING LIBRARY will be open daily from 9:00 AM until 3:30 PM. The library features more than 1,000 books and is operated on an “Honor System".

The Hikers will hike at the Stearns County Mississippi Park starting at 10:00 AM.  A Picnic that is Part of Active Aging Week held at Stearns County Mississippi River Park will start around 12:00 Noon.  Please RSVP to Community Ed by calling 253-4036 to ensure there is plenty of hot dogs, chips, water melon, etc. 

The gymnasium will now be open Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays for seniors for exercise and/or Badminton at 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM.

9/29 Monday

Walking after 4:00 PM in middle school halls resumes while school is in session. Walkers need to get a badge for $2 from Community Education office.
