ACT Sartell Community
Sartell Is Working to Prepare for Alzheimer’s
Did you know one in nine people over 65 years of age have Alzheimer’s and about one-third of people over 85 have the disease?
Formed in 2015, the Sartell community is one of 35 communities across Minnesota whose citizens are working together to improve the lives of people with Alzheimer’s and the lives of their caregivers. ACT on Alzheimer’s® is a volunteer driven, statewide collaboration preparing Minnesota for the impacts of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia's. Under one of its goals, the group is helping communities become dementia capable. A dementia capable community is informed, safe, respects individuals with dementia and their families and caregivers, and provides options that support the best quality of life.
Several key business leaders and community representatives discussed and formed an ACTion team in 2015, including: City of Sartell, Sartell Police Department, St. Croix Hospice, St. Francis Xavier Church, Recover Health, Sartell Senior Connection, A Home for the Day, Representative Tim O’Driscoll, Sartell-St. Stephen Community Education, Stearns County Human Services, Central MN Council on Aging, Country Manor Campus, and the Stearns County Museum. Additional business and community representatives are encouraged to join this initiative!
